Step 1: Set up an OpenAI platform account.

You will first need to create an account on the OpenAI platform.

To create an account on the OpenAI platform, simply follow the directions. You should see something like this after signing up:

Step 2: Obtain your API key.

Once your account is created, you'll need to retrieve your API key, which is required to interact with the API.

Go to the API keys page on your OpenAI account, as seen in the diagram below.

You can now generate an API key, which you must copy and keep safe because you will not be able to access it again. However, if you lose it or require a new one, one can be generated.
